Gas Ovens

Fault: GAS oven/stove will not light

Try: Open the oven door check to see if there is a button on the lower left hand corner near the oven door. If there is, this needs to be pushed (or with some appliances with a lever, pulled), while turning the oven knob to light it. Once the oven is lit, hold the button/lever for 15 seconds before releasing.
Remember: Gas appliances also can have clocks/timers and if yours does, it still needs the time setting to make the oven work.
Tip: If the oven/stove will not power up at all, check the following:
1) Is the fuse is on at the fuse box
2) (This one is a very common mistake) Check to see there isn’t a switch on the wall just above the work bench that turns on the oven/stove/cooktop. Usually this switch is found on a normal double electrical outlet socket in between both sockets. But we have found them on a switch on their own.
