Dryers

TIP: Most faults associated with dryers are the over heating problems. These are caused by the machine not getting a good air flow. If your machine is in a small area such as a bathroom or small laundry the door to that room MUST be left open, so there is a good air flow. Make sure the filters are cleaned after EVERY wash.
TIP: When the dryer is not being used keep the door in the locked position. It is so easy to stand up, when bent down in front of the washer (usually underneath the dryer) and catch the dryer door, therefore damaging the door or hinges.
Simpson & Hoover
FAULT: Simpson or Hoover machine stops after a few minutes or the red overload button (Simpson only) has to be pressed in many times.
TRY: Check that the filter inside the drum on the back is clean. To remove the filter put your finger through the 2 holes and pull. If the filter is clean, is the room that the dryer is in hot? If so let the dryer cool down and then turn it on with a window (if possible) and room door open. If the machine still over heats or shuts itself off, turn it off and report it to your real estate office or contact us.
REMEMBER: DO NOT keep using it as it will damage the element.
Fisher and Paykel
TIP: If the machine keeps switching itself off, check the filter is clean. The filter is located just inside the door at the bottom of the opening for the door. Again if this is clean and it still fails make sure there is plenty of ventilation for the dryer. If this is all okay, then put a call into your real estate office or contact us.
Condenser Dryers
TIP: This type of machine dries the clothes and at the same time takes the moisture and collects it in a tray. Sometimes Miele, Bosch or Asko have a drain hose which may be attached directly to the drain. There are several filters that have to be cleaned on most of these machines. The filters are usually located as follows and all have to be checked regularly:
1) Fine mesh filter: in the door, pulls upwards or door back unclips to clean it
2) Fine mesh filter: located in the front of the machines opening where the door closes into.
3) Condenser Filter: this is located usually near the front bottom part of the cabinet, It usually looks like a vent cover. The cover needs to be removed then there are 2 clips that are turned and the filter removed. All Vents in the condenser filter must be cleared to allow good air flow.
FAULT: Dryer leaks water.
TRY: Check that the water container is empty. This can be found at the top front of the cabinet and pulls out to empty into the sink. This must be emptied every wash.
FAULT: Asko models only – Machine will not power on.
TRY: Check to see that the on/off safety button is pressed on. This is hidden so children cannot play with it. It is located in the middle of the fascia just underneath the lower edge. Finally if you have any dryer that does not power on. Please try plugging an appliance into the electrical socket (kettle, hair dryer etc) to make sure the socket on the wall is working.
